Zan News: Following over three years of depriving girls of education in Afghanistan, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has stated that education is a non-negotiable right.
On Saturday (March 8), coinciding with International Women’s Day, the organization reported that currently, 1.5 million girls in Afghanistan are deprived of secondary education.
UNESCO warned that if these restrictions continue until 2030, four million girls will be denied access to education.
It is noteworthy that UNESCO held a meeting in Paris yesterday focused on the situation of Afghan women, and a larger conference in support of the rights of Afghan women and girls is expected to be held soon.
Since their takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban have deprived girls of attending schools and universities, a move that has sparked widespread criticism from international organizations.
