Zan News: The United Nations Human Rights Office in Palestine has reported that 70% of the casualties in the Gaza conflict are women and children.
According to a Reuters report, the organization has stated that this approach to warfare constitutes a "systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law" and has condemned it.
The UN Human Rights Office based this figure on reports from three verified sources, and it continues to count the casualties from the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The report from the UN Human Rights Office confirms that, as of now, 8,119 casualties have been confirmed, all of whom are women and children.
In its 32-page report, released on Friday (November 8), the office stated: "These findings represent a systematic violation of the core principles of international humanitarian law, including distinction and proportionality."
Meanwhile, the High Commissioner for Human Rights emphasized: "Given the serious allegations of violations of international law, it is essential that thorough investigations be carried out by credible and impartial judicial bodies, while ensuring that all relevant information and evidence are gathered and preserved."
In response to this report, Israel's permanent mission to the United Nations has "strongly" rejected it.
The Israeli mission stated: "The Human Rights Office fails to accurately reflect the on-the-ground realities and overlooks the significant role played by Hamas and other terrorist organizations in deliberately harming civilians in Gaza."
