Zan News: The UN Women says that there is a brutal oppression of women in Afghanistan, and a voice must be raised to support women and girls.
In a statement released on Tuesday (November 5), the organization added that Afghan women and girls, who have already been deprived of their fundamental rights, are now even prohibited from speaking to each other.
According to the organization, millions of Afghan girls are still deprived of access to education and confined to their homes.
The statement reads: "Injustice is a threat to all of us. Raise your voice for women and girls in Afghanistan."
Meanwhile, Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Afghanistan, had previously emphasized in a statement that the international community's silence on the violation of women's rights by the Taliban has given the group more courage.
He urged the international community to adopt coordinated and practical responses to the Taliban's repressive policies against women’s rights.
