Zan News: The Taliban's Ministry of Education has suspended the payment of salaries to female teachers until further notice.
In a letter that circulated on social media on Sunday (June 30), the ministry announced that this process will be suspended until a decision is made regarding the reduction of female employees' salaries to 5,000 Afghanis.
The letter, signed by Habibullah Agha, the acting head of the Taliban's Ministry of Education, directs that the payment of salaries to female teachers be stopped until further notice.
The reason for this action is cited as a problem with the automatic salary payment system for teachers within the Taliban's Ministry of Education.
This decision follows an order from the Taliban leader to reduce the salaries of female employees in all government departments to 5,000 Afghanis.
The reduction in salaries for female employees in government offices has sparked widespread reactions. A number of female doctors staged a work strike two days ago in protest of this decision.
