Zan News: The Taliban Supreme Court has announced that a woman was flogged in Nangarhar province.
According to a statement released on Monday (November 4), the woman was sentenced by a Taliban court in the Kuz Kunar district of Nangarhar province and received 39 lashes in public on charges of "running away from home."
The Taliban Supreme Court stated that the punishment was carried out in the presence of several Taliban officials, clerics, and a number of people.
The statement also mentioned that after the punishment was carried out, Taliban clerics spoke about the "importance of limits and punishments."
It is worth noting that in its recent quarterly report, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) stated that over the past three months, the Taliban have subjected 111 people, including 16 women, to corporal punishment across Afghanistan.
UNAMA added that these punishments included individual and sometimes group floggings.
