Zan News: The Supreme Court of the Taliban has announced that five individuals, including two women, were publicly flogged in Faryab and Kunduz provinces on charges of "running away from home" and "extramarital relations."
According to a press release issued by the court on Wednesday (February 5), three individuals, including one woman, were flogged in the Balcharagh district of Faryab province on charges of "running away from home."
The court stated that two of these individuals were each sentenced to one year in prison and 39 lashes. Another individual was sentenced to 39 lashes.
In Kunduz province, two individuals, including one woman, were flogged on charges of "extramarital relations" and each sentenced to two years in prison and 39 lashes.
This comes as human rights organizations have consistently condemned the Taliban's physical punishments, describing them as blatant violations of human rights and human dignity.
Since returning to power, the Taliban have repeatedly carried out flogging and execution punishments in various parts of Afghanistan, actions that have drawn widespread condemnation from the international community and human rights organizations.
