Zan News: In a recent action, the Taliban's Supreme Court publicly flogged three individuals, including a woman and two men, in Bamyan province on charges of adultery, illicit relationships, and theft.

According to a statement released today, Thursday (25 July), by the Taliban's Supreme Court, these individuals were flogged yesterday based on the ruling of the primary city court in Bamyan province.

The statement mentions that two of the accused each received 35 lashes, while the third received 30 lashes.

In addition to flogging, two of the convicts were sentenced to four and five years in prison, respectively, while the third was sentenced to six months in prison.

The execution of this sentence was confirmed by the head of the Taliban's Supreme Court.

This comes as the Taliban, upon their return to power in Afghanistan, have resumed public flogging and retribution for convicts, as per the decree of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group's leader, after a two-decade across Afghanistan.

These public punishments have faced severe criticism from the international community and human rights organizations, which have repeatedly called for the Taliban to abolish such punishments. However, the Taliban have not only ignored these criticisms but have also emphasized the continuation of these punishments.
