Zan News: A mother in Nangarhar province has put her two young daughters up for sale due to severe economic hardships and increasing poverty.
Rahmina, the mother of the two children, told the media on Tuesday (August 20th) that her husband was injured and later paralyzed as a result of a traffic accident.
She mentioned that her family has 10 members and lives in a poor neighborhood in the 6th district of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar.
According to Rahmina, she spent 500,000 Afghanis on her husband's treatment, and now the family is struggling with severe financial problems.
She pleaded with the Taliban and local merchants to help her so she wouldn't have to sell her children. Rahmina added that she has repeatedly approached Taliban aid agencies but has not received any assistance so far.
The Taliban have not commented on the matter yet.
It is worth noting that since the Taliban came to power, poverty in Afghanistan has increased to unprecedented levels, and millions of people are facing severe economic difficulties. The sale of children in Afghanistan, especially under the current conditions, highlights the depth of the humanitarian crisis in the country.
