Zan News: A group of Afghan women athletes have sent a message to the participants of the 2024 Paris Olympics, reminding them that women and girls in Afghanistan are systematically excluded from sports by the Taliban.

In their message, these athletes emphasized that the global community's silence in the face of the exclusion of women and girls from education, society, and sports is unforgivable.

They stated that the Taliban have sacrificed the potential talents and abilities of Afghan women and girls, which could have contributed to the global community's achievements.

The message highlighted that the Taliban's treatment of Afghan women and girls is "humiliating," and ignoring the restrictions imposed on them reflects the "moral weakness of the global community."

Additionally, these Afghan women athletes called on the international community to take serious action to lift the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on Afghan women and girls.

It is noteworthy that since coming to power, the Taliban have banned women's sports in Afghanistan and dissolved all women's sports teams.

Nevertheless, six Afghan athletes (three women and three men) are competing as representatives of Afghan sports at the Paris Olympics. The Taliban have announced that they do not recognize the three women athletes included in this team.
