On Friday (September 6), Decker wrote on X that she discussed shared security, economic, and social interests in Afghanistan with Alibek Bakayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
She added that there is a "strong agreement to support the people of Afghanistan" and that "important efforts are underway to develop regional connectivity and strengthen people-to-people ties. Afghanistan will not be forgotten."
The Kazakh Foreign Ministry also issued a statement saying that the talks focused on regional security, measures to strengthen social stability through the revival of Afghanistan's economy, and improving the lives of its people.
Bakayev also emphasized that Kazakhstan regularly provides humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, educates Afghan students, and implements joint projects with international organizations.
According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's statement, the U.S. side expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan's continued support for the Afghan people and welcomed Astana's efforts to develop economic cooperation with Kabul.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan is one of the countries that has established diplomatic relations with the Taliban and removed them from its list of banned groups.
