Zan News - Nangarhar: Local Taliban officials in Nangarhar province report that heavy rain, storms, and flooding yesterday have resulted in at least 45 deaths and 300 injuries.

Qureshi Badloon, the Information Director of the Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture in Nangarhar, stated that these numbers are not final and could increase.

According to Qureshi Badloon, more than 400 residential houses and 60 power poles have been destroyed, and electricity and telecommunications networks in the affected areas have been cut off.

Meanwhile, Sharafat Zaman, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health, announced that the number of fatalities is around 40, with 347 injured. He noted that these numbers might change.

Affected families say they need drinking water, food, and other essential assistance.

This comes as heavy rain and severe storms witness Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar, and the districts of Surkhrod, Bati Kot, and Behsud yesterday (Monday, July 15), causing significant casualties and damage.
