Zan News: On the eve of the third anniversary of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, the "Empowered Women Movement of Afghanistan" issued a statement condemning the dire human rights situation and humanitarian crisis in the country, and urging the international community to take action to end this catastrophic situation.
The statement, released on Saturday (August 10), references the Doha Agreement and labels it as the cause of the country's surrender to the Taliban and the destruction of the 20-year achievements of the Afghan people.
The statement notes that on this day, schools have been closed to girls, women have been removed from all political and social structures, and human rights values have been severely violated.
The Empowered Women Movement of Afghanistan addressed the "increasing poverty, unemployment, migration, and growth of terrorist groups" in the country and called on the international community to end political silence and take immediate and practical actions to save the people, especially women, in Afghanistan.
The movement also highlighted the migration crisis caused by the Taliban's "oppression and discrimination" and urged the international community to work towards securing peace in Afghanistan and facilitating the return of people to their homes.
The statement emphasized that Afghanistan has become a safe haven for "global terrorist groups," posing a threat to regional and global security. It called for preventive measures to be taken before terrorism spreads to other countries.
