Zan News: In the final statement of the sixteenth summit of BRICS leaders in Kazan, Russia, the members urged the Taliban to lift the ban on education for girls in Afghanistan.
The statement, issued yesterday (October 23), emphasizes the necessity of protecting the fundamental rights of all citizens of Afghanistan, especially women, girls, and various ethnic groups.
BRICS members also highlighted the need for an immediate and peaceful resolution to the Afghan issue to strengthen regional security and stability, supporting Afghanistan as an "independent, united, and free from terrorism, war, and drugs" country.
Furthermore, the statement calls on the Taliban to take further actions to ensure that Afghan territory is not used by terrorist groups.
BRICS members also underscored the importance of neighboring countries and regional platforms in addressing the Afghan crisis, expressing their welcome for regional initiatives in this regard.
They also emphasized the urgent need for uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
It is noteworthy that the sixteenth BRICS summit, which began on Monday in Kazan, concluded yesterday. Some officials from the participating countries also discussed the situation in Afghanistan on the sidelines of bilateral meetings.
