Zan News: Nigara Rahela Shaheen, an Afghan judoka and member of the Refugee Team of the International Olympic Committee, was eliminated from the 2024 Paris Olympics in the round of 16 after losing to an opponent from Mexico by an ippon.

The Paris 2024 Olympics website announced the elimination of Nigara Rahela Shaheen from the Olympic Games.

According to the announcement, the Afghan judoka, a member of the Refugee Team in the Olympics, faced her Mexican opponent and ultimately conceded defeat, resulting in her elimination from the competition. Shaheen competed in the under 63 kg weight category and was defeated by the Mexican national athlete.

It is worth mentioning that this year's Olympic Games are currently taking place in Paris. Only six Afghan athletes, including three women and three men, are participating. They were invited by the International Olympic Committee in consultation with former officials of the Afghan Olympic Committee.

However, recently, Atal Meshwani, the spokesperson of the Taliban Sports Department, stated that the group does not recognize the three female athletes representing Afghanistan in the Olympics.
