Zan News: A conference aimed at empowering Afghan women entrepreneurs and highlighting their vital role in improving Afghanistan's economic situation and financial resilience will be held at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Nazifa Haqpal, a former Afghan diplomat, announced the event in a newsletter on her X account, stating that the conference will focus on recognizing gender apartheid, finding ways to support women entrepreneurs, and addressing the obstacles they face in Afghanistan and Britain.
The conference, which will take place today, Monday, June 3rd, at the London School of Economics and Political Science, will bring together entrepreneurs, researchers, businesspeople, and policymakers.
The main themes of the conference are the importance of Afghan women in strengthening the economy and combating the prevailing gender apartheid, removing the obstacles facing women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan and Britain, sharing their experiences, and exploring better ways to support their activities.
This comes as since the Taliban took power in August 2021 and imposed over 50 restrictive decrees on women and girls, they have been deprived of their fundamental rights, including the right to education, work, travel, recreation, and political participation.
The Taliban have also been accused by countries around the world of human rights abuses for marginalizing women and girls over the past nearly three years.
