Zan News: Local sources in Faryab province have reported that a 16-year-old girl in the province’s Belcheragh district ended her life by ingesting rat poison.
According to a source, the girl, named Shabana, was a resident of the "Qosh Guzar" village in Belcheragh district.
The source confirmed that Shabana committed suicide on Wednesday (January 8) by consuming rat poison and passed away after being taken to the hospital.
Based on the information provided, Shabana was unmarried and took her own life due to family problems. However, the exact details of these issues remain unclear.
Local Taliban officials in Faryab province have yet to comment on the incident.
This incident comes as suicide cases among women and girls in Afghanistan have significantly increased over the past three years under Taliban rule. Domestic violence and forced marriages are cited as the primary causes of suicide among Afghan women and girls.
