Zan News: Manizha Talash, an Afghan athlete who competed on behalf of Afghanistan in the Paris 2024 Olympics, has been disqualified from the games due to displaying the political slogan "Free Afghan Women."
According to a report by the India Today newspaper on Saturday (August 10), the 21-year-old Afghan displayed this slogan to the audience during a breakdancing competition.
Talash, who was defeated by India Sardju from the Netherlands in this competition, has been removed not only from the breakdancing event but also from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The disqualification is due to her violation of Olympic rules, as Article 50 of the Olympic Charter prohibits any political, religious, or racial demonstrations or propaganda at the Olympic venue or in other areas.
However, Manizhe Talash has managed to convey her message about the rights of Afghan women on the biggest sports stage. After the Taliban's return to power in Afghanistan, she sought asylum in Spain and competed as an Afghan refugee athlete in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
